tony's STORY & PRomise to you

October 10 2016 - 278lbs

October 1 2026
October 10, 2016. Here I was, driving home on the Florida Turnpike after a long day at work. An ordinary typical day.
Suddenly I started feeling very light headed and dizzy. My pulse started racing, my chest was tight, I felt my heart pounding in every area of my body. I pulled over just trying to breathe and see if I can get it under control. Maybe I was just dehydrated, it was a hot south Floriday day. After about 10 minutes I did get it somewhat under control but I still didn't feel well. I started driving again, only to have to stop and do the same thing again about 10 minutes later.
Eventually I made it home and first thing I did was drink 4 tall glasses of water to hydrate. I couldn't put it down fast enough. But it didn't help the dizziness, the light-headedness, or the intense heartbeat. I decided it was time to go to the ER.
I barely got there. I felt so weak walking in and seeing the situation they got me in immediately.
Weight: 278lbs. Heart Rate: 150 bpm. Blood Pressure: 180/100. I was in bad shape and they rushed me to an EKG fearing I was having a heart attack.
The EKG was fine, they decided I was having an extreme panic attack. They hydrated me and started me on blood pressure meds. Depression and fear of eating took over.
That changed the following summer when I met a personal trainer at a gathering. A month later he began training me online, exercise and nutrition. Over the next year I lost 100lbs and got into the best shape of my life. This along with my motivation held for a while.
Then life hit. After moving to California everything fell apart shortly after. Suddenly fitness and exercise was no longer a priority...depression and drowning my sorrows in long island ice teas took over. Then COVID hit. Gyms closed and I told myself "Well shoot, guess I can't work out," even though my motivation had been washed away for some time.
Even as life improved the motivation just wasn't there. Mid 2025 I went for an annual physical. Resting heart rate was higher than it should be for a 46 year old, I was prehypertensive, and my cholesterol was WAY off the charts.
I sat on this information and again was depressed about it. Finally in December I said "No more." I joined a gym again for the first time in 5 years. I took the education I received from my previous trainer and began doing my own research. I began to understand the "why" as opposed to just a list of movements. I crafted my own workout and nutrition plans and got to work, working strictly on developing muscle for the first 6 months, and then started a 3 month fat loss phase.
The results have been staggering. I lost 24lbs since the start, and 21 of that coming during the 3 month cut. I became stronger than I've been in my entire life, including during that 100lb weight loss program. My body fat has dropped to 17%. My resting heart rate usually ranges between 58-62, my weight currently sits at 180lbs, my blood pressure is textbook, and my cholesterol is normal and healthy again!
Most of all, I found a passion for fitness. I absorbed so much knowledge for myself I decided I wanted to try to help people achieve their goals. I achieved my ISSA Certified Personal Trainer certification, and I decided "Let's do this!" Thus the birth of Mark 1 Fitness.
Fans of Iron Man will recognize the connection immediately. Tony Stark under great duress used his knowledge and ingenuity to craft his Mark 1 Iron Man suit to escape. From there he built on that and was able to do great things.
Mark 1 represents a starting point. This is the beginning, YOUR beginning. We will truly work together to achieve BOTH of our goals. I am not perfect, you won't see someone with abs on top of abs and 10% body fat. That makes me real. My knowledge, experience and struggles most of my life are the fuel to help you get where you want. I will promise you the same understanding, dedication, and motivation I have forged in myself to help you achieve what you never thought possible!
